Fortunate 25 get tickets at original price for ICC World Cup semi-final

CHANDIGARH: It is safe to say there is nothing in Tricity currently that matches the value of a ticket for the India-Pakistan ICC World Cup semi-final. Twenty-five city residents were able to get precisely these prized coloured pieces of paper on Monday and that too at the original price! Many of them were were pleasantly shocked as the tickets have been going exorbitant prices in black market at the moment.
These fortunate ones had applied for the tickets online and it certainly paid off for them.Soon after getting the tickets, fans were seen informing their friends and relatives. There were many others who were waiting outside the stadium's ticket counters in the hot sun hoping to get theirs. Those intrepid ticket-seekers were also forced to move away from the stadium from time to time for security reasons.
Those who had applied for tickets online were asked to bring their Identity proofs along with them. On Monday they were handed tickets outside gate no. 1 by police officers.
'I am feeling on the top of the world. My favourite cricket player is Sachin Tendulkar and I will be cheering for him only. I hope this is not his last world cup,' said, Prashant Verma. Sahil Sukheja, one of the lucky recipients, said it was a dream come true for him as he was least expecting it. ''It is unbelievable, I am actually holding the ticket when others are frantically trying to get one,'' he said.
He mentioned that since the beginning of world cup he was dying to see Yuvraj Singh in action while sitting inside the stadium. ''Now, finally, I am going to fulfil my long cherished dream,'' he stated.
Another lucky ticket-holder, Himanshu Tiwari, said watching Indo-Pak match inside a stadium was an altogether different experience. ''The feel there is different as thousands get together to cheer the team. The adrenalin rush inside the stadium cannot be experienced while sitting at home or in some hotel, restaurant or bar. It feels great that I will be watching this match in the stadium.''
